Taj Mahal is a monument located in Agra, India. It was constructed between 1631 and 1654 by a workforce of 22,000.
The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned its construction as a mausoleum for his favourite wife, Arjumand Bano Begum,
who is better known as Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal (popular as 'The Taj') is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Indian and Islamic.
The Taj Mahal has achieved special note because of the romance of its inspiration.
Since 1983, the Taj Mahal has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Red Fort of Agra, 16th-century Mughal monument, stands near the gardens of the Taj Mahal.
This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers.
It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal,
built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.
Since 1983, the Agra Fort has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fatehpur Sikri built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar,
Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years.
The complex of monuments and temples, all in a uniform architectural style,
includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid.
Since 1986, the Taj Mahal has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
